LAKIAGORDON 

Lakia is an entrepreneur, author, educator, producer, TV host and radio personality who enjoys helping others maximize their potential.

 

ENTREPRENEUR:

 

She presents workshops, seminars and retreats dealing with education and self-esteem through her company, Unwrapped International.

 

AUTHOR:

 

In 2011, Lakia penned her book, The Truth about Ugly Women: I Want Beauty Within. The pint-sized book is packed with practical wisdom on how to overcome inner turmoil. The material empowers and inspires young girls, women and the at-risk community.

 

She will be releasing her sophomore book this Fall 2014.

 

EDUCATOR:

 

Previously, Lakia worked at Hampton University as an Adjunct Professor. She also is an educator within her company, Unwrapped International, teaching the at-risk community that they can live their dreams.  

 

Lakia holds Bachelor of Art degrees in Business Administration and Spanish, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), a Post-Master (EdS) degree in Educational Leadership,  and is pursuing her Doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction, to be matriculated Summer 2015. 

 

TV HOST/ RADIO PERSONALITY/ PRODUCER 

 

As a writer, Lakia loved penning short stories and inspiring articles on her blog, but she wanted to experience something different in the world of writing. So, in December 2012, Lakia decided to join a local filmmaking club. Ironically, at this time, the club had an opportunity to assist with a new TV show that would air on a local network.  With great enthusiasm, Lakia jumped at the opportunity to possibly write for the show. 

 

As they were in the beginning stages of the production and flexible to changing the original format, instead of writing, they asked Lakia if she would like to be apart of the cast.  Without any previous experience and being unaccustomed to being on TV, Lakia was hesitant; however, after speaking with a few friends, she welcomed the challenge.  The day she said yes to this new experience, though, was the day she would fall in love, with not only the process of creating TV programs, but being in front of the camera and producing. Within one year, Lakia landed a hosting job on a local TV show, went on to produce three other TV shows and a radio program.  

 

One of Lakia's biggest projects to date, though, will come in the Fall of 2014, where she will debut as the executive producer of a local TV show to air on Cox Communications.
